PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a solid-state image pickup unit that is available for an inspection device or the like and is helpful to reduction in the device cost and improvement of the inspection speed. SOLUTION: The solid-state image pickup unit is provided with a plurality of image pickup cells 10 each having a photoelectric conversion section 11 that generates signal charges in response to an incident light, an amplifier element 12 that has a control area to store changes and outputs an electric signal corresponding to the charges stored in the control area, a 1st switching element 13 that is connected between an output of the photoelectric conversion section 11 and the control area of the amplifier element 12, a common potential line 15, and a 2nd switching element 12 that is connected between the common potential line 15 and the control area of the amplifier element 12, and also with a potential supply circuit 22 that applies a common potential to the common potential line 15 of a plurality of the image pickup cells 10 and a potential control circuit 23 that applies on/off control to the 2nd switching element 14 of a plurality of the image pickup cells 10 individually.
