PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable transmission of a synchronous digital hierarchy(SDH) section which monitors signal as an optical path monitoring signal by replacing the part of an eliminated section monitoring signal with the part of the optical path monitoring signal. SOLUTION: This device is equipped with a monitoring signal branching circuit 151 and a monitoring signal selection circuit 153 as a means for replacing a part of a section monitoring signal eliminated by an SDH section monitoring signal processing circuit 111 with a part of an optical path monitoring signal. In this case, the read section monitoring signal is generated into a completely identical SDH section monitoring signal by an SDH section monitoring signal control device 131, and the monitoring signal branching circuit 151 via a signal output line 141 and transmitted to the monitoring signal selection circuit 153. Thus, it is possible to transmit the SDH section monitoring signal as the optical path monitoring signal as it is and to set a virtual SDH section between the SDH devices connected to an optical path signal terminal.
