PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the spot size by lowering lens aberration and electron repulsion effect even when lowering an object point size. SOLUTION: In this electron gun for a cathode ray tube, electrons corresponding to R(red), G(green), B(blue) emitted from a cathode are passed through grid holes provided to a first grid 10 and a second grid, and they are converged through an electron lens. For the respective colors R, G, B, the plural grid holes r1-r4, g1-g4, b1-b4 are provided. And the planes provided with the respective grid holes r1-r4, g1-g4, b1-b4 are sloped at the prescribed angle (angleα), then electron emitting surfaces of the cathode are sloped at the same angle as the planes provided with the respective grid holes r1-r4, g1-g4, b1-b4.
