A box type connector comprising upper and lower side walls, and an insulating wall connecting the two side walls, with the surfaces of the walls defining a substantially U-shaped cross section, wherein a recess is formed in a region on the surface of the insulating wall on the socket insertion side and in the vicinity of a corner defined by the side wall and the insulating wall, and the thickness (Tn) of the thinnest portion of the insulating wall is smaller than the thickness (Tr) of a portion of the side wall where socket insertion side of the insulating wall crosses the side wall. The connector has a shape that ensures proper distribution of stresses produced when the socket is inserted and effective prevention of cracks or breaks.
