The mass prodn. system (2) is in a modular structure, where workpieces are carried by roller belts (6,8,10) between machines (4) to work them. One module (12) has a machine and a transfer table (16) between each pair of sliding tables (14), to lock the transfer table (16) at the machine (4). Two of the roller belts (6,8) move in the direction of normal prodn. movement, and the third belt (10) moves in the opposite direction.
