The invention relates to a clock comprising a regular clock generator which outputs clock pulses, and having a microprocessor which evaluates the clock pulses of the clock generator and which establishes the relation between the number of clock pulses and the units of time. The inventive clock also comprises an output device for the measured units of time in the form of a time of day, and has a setting device for the indicated time of day. In order to obtain an adaptive correction of the clock operation, a summation device adds up the units of time between two setting processes by using the setting device. A recognition device (6) recognizes the deviation of the clock operation corrected during a setting process, and the relationship between the number of clock pulses and the units of time is modified by the microprocessor on the basis of the established deviation of the clock operation per unit of time. As a result, a relatively exact time of day can be indicated for the microprocessor also in the case of relatively imprecise quartz clock generators.
