The toner container has an associated wiper for the toner sensor, which is operated by a flap on the same shaft. This is rotated by the flow of toner from a new cartridge. The operating flap is located at the end of the cartridge which is uncovered first, so that the wiper is actuated before it is covered with toner. When the container is empty the wiper counterweight returns it to the upper position.
