PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of parts and cost without harming the function of a temperature setting display by avoiding to equip an independent display means for a temperature setting OFF condition which is temperature setting for a heating means not to execute heating motion. SOLUTION: The ironing face of this iron is made to be switched to three levels of high, medium, and low temperatures and the temperature setting is switching to OFF condition, low temperature, medium temperature, high temperature, and OFF condition again circulating in that order. The OFF condition is a temperature setting condition (temperature setting OFF condition) in which the heater is not energized not to heat a base 12. Lamps 22a, 22b, 22c are lit ON when the temperature setting is low temperature, medium temperature, and high temperature respectively. On the contrary, no display means id provided for the temperature setting OFF condition. In the temperature setting OFF condition, all lamps 22a, 22b, 22c are lit OFF, i.e., the temperature setting primarily to be dealt with is not displayed, and thereby the temperature setting OFF condition is displayed.
