PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet printer in which ejection performance of an ink jet head can be recovered appropriately. SOLUTION: A maintenance roll 30 is disposed along a press contact plate 20 being held at a specified rotary angle with respect to the nozzle face 116 of an ink jet head 10 and carried from a feed roller 31 to a winding roller 32. The press contact plate 20 is urged by a spring 21 to be pushed in the direction of the nozzle face 116 and pushed oppositely thereto by the tension at the time of winding. The rotary angle is determined in the vicinity of a press contact plate fulcrum 23 where both forces are balanced. A pneumatic pump for purge operation and the winding roller 32 are driven by a common motor. Since a protective plate is provided while projecting slightly from the nozzle face 116, the maintenance roll 30 does not collide against a nozzle directly. |
