PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To immediately detect the contact of a door on car side and a door on landing place side with a passenger even if any of these doors comes into contact with the passenger first. SOLUTION: This door safety device for elevator is provided with a car cam 4 provided on a door on car side 1, an engaging roller which is provided on a door on landing place side and in which the door 1 on car side can be brought into the interlocking relationship with the door on landing place side 13 when it is engaged with the car cam 4, a motor 18 opening and closing the door 1 on car side through a pressing roller 11, an engaged member which is provided on the door 1 on car side and is engaged with the pressing roller 11 in play, and a limit switch 22 detecting a condition in which there is no play and an engaging part is engaged with the engaged member. When it receives a force in the opposite direction to the direction of door closing wile the door 1 on car side or the door on landing place side is being closed, the pressing roller 11 is not engaged with the engaged member because a play occurs therebetween, and the limit switch 22 detects this not-engaging condition.
