PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper sheet feeding device capable of detecting the position of a sheet stacking plate with simple constitution. SOLUTION: This device is equipped with a vertically movable sheet stacking plate 5 used for stacking many sheets 3, a pickup roller 9 for delivering stacked sheets 3 on the stacking plate 5, a drive part 7 for vertically moving the stacking plate 5, a drive gear 31 engaged with the second gear 23 and driven together with the stacking plate 5, a substrate part 33 for detecting the travel amount of the drive gear 31, and a control means 15 for detecting the position of the stacking plate 5 on the basis of detected information from the substrate part 33.
