PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a closable guide vane having a three dimensional blade type shape whose design is easy and prevent the generation of a cavitation at a low cost. SOLUTION: This water wheel is provided with a vaned wheel, a guide vane formed by arranging plural blades in the periphery direction of the outside of the vaned wheel and in which respective blades are constituted rotatably around the center axis parallel with the rotation axis of the vaned wheel, a stay vane in which plural blades are arranged and formed in the peripheral direction of the outside of the guide vane and a casing for covering the outside of the stay vane. In the closing state of the guide vane, the section vertical to the center axis of the blade of the guide vane 3 is displaced to the rotation direction 11 of the vaned wheel from the upperside toward the lowerside of the guide vane.
