BIPOLAR METALLIC ELECTRODE AND ELECTROLYTIC CELL USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a titanium electrode of a bipolar structure for electrolysis of hydrochloric acid usable in actuality. SOLUTION: The bipolar metallic electrode for electrolysis of the hydrochloric acid has a cathode plate 20 consisting of a nickel alloy and an anode structure of a titanium mesh 36 shape. The mesh anode 36 of the titanium is bonded to a back plate 22 of the titanium by plural supporting bodies (spacers 34) of the titanium. The back plate 22 of the titanium is arranged apart a spacing from the cathode plate 20 of the nickel alloy by a plate 24 of aluminum which provides a hydrogen barrier and functions as a current distributing means.
