OBJECT DETECTING DEVICE USING DIFFERENCE IMAGE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect an object part having movements from an image signal obtained by an image pickup device by forming the difference image between first and second edge images extracted from the image signals picked up with time difference about the same subject. SOLUTION: A time difference image forming part 4 takes the difference between an edge image obtained this time and the previously obtained edge image. The difference image obtained from the two images is formed by taking the difference between of respective corresponding pixel values about the two images. Equal pixels about the two images are erased through this processing. Then, edge images of parts having no movements about a subject are erased and the edges of only parts having movements appear as a difference image. A binarizing part divides a pixel that is brighter than prescribed threshold to a white pixel and a pixel that is darker than prescribed threshold to a black pixel and performs binarization about each pixel of the difference image obtained in this way.
