PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a heat-developable photosensitive material having such photographic characteristics as high contrast, low fog, good suitability to print- out and good preservability as a material for a photomechanical process, particularly for a scanner and an image setter by incorporating an organic compound having a specified solubility product of its silver salt in water of a specified pH at a specified temperature. SOLUTION: The heat-developable photosensitive material has a nonphotosensitive silver salt, a photosensitive silver halide, a nucleus forming agent and a binder on the substrate and contains an organic compound having a solubility product (Ksp) of its silver salt of <=10-10 in water of pH 9.6 at 25 deg.C. The nucleus forming agent is at least one compound selected from a substituted alkene derivative of formula I, a substituted isoxazole derivative of formula II and an acetal compound of formula III. In the formulae, R1-R3 are each H or a substituent, R4 is a substituent, Z is an electron withdrawing group or silyl, X and Y are each H or a substituent and A and B are each an alkoxy or the like.
