METHOD FOR COMPRESSING THREE-DIMENSIONAL DATA AND RESTORING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compress and restore unstructured data such as three-dimensional shape data and texture data. SOLUTION: Position coordinates and unstructured data of attribute values are divided into a structured data set where adjacent relations are represented by a quadrangular lattice. The structured data represented as two-dimensional matrices are made to maintain continuity by returning back the boundary of data and a background, and subband decomposition or wavelet transformation is performed by using a decomposing and synthesizing filter having a symmetrical weight coefficient. The original data is restored from bitmap mask representing the domain of the data and a transformation coefficient in the domain.
