PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader, that employs a small-sized scanner reading an image by using an image sensor and data of the read image are displayed on an external device connecting to the reader such as a general home-use television receiver. SOLUTION: An image pre-processing circuit 30 applies image pre-processing, such as A/D conversion and shading correction, to pixel signals (red R, green G, blue B colors) which are outputted from a color image sensor 10 and passing through an amplifier circuit 20 and the processed data are stored in an image memory 40. The image data stored in the two-dimensional image memory 40 are read by a read clock, corresponding to an NTSC processing generated by an image memory read correction 50, converted into an NTSC video signal by an NTSC encoder 60 and, e.g. a general home-use television receiver can display the image data.
