PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable reference to the file under management of the other directory from a file under the management of the directory conforming to the DVD video standards by recording the reference destination information into the file under the management of directory conforming to the DVD video standards. SOLUTION: An image data of the DVD video standards compression system is stored in the image data recording domain 301 and an audio data, if exits, is stored in the audio data recording domain 302. An image data management information recording domain 303 is provided in the domain preceding the image data recording domain 301 to record the management information about the image data and moreover the reference destination address is also added. In addition, an image data recording domain 304 for thumb nail is also provided and thereby, the image data management information recording domain 303 and the image data recording domain 304 for thumb nail are physically recorded in the image data file under the management of the DVD video standards directory.
