The abrasive wheel has an abrasive outer surface (16) in which are lengthwise grooves. The lengthwise grooves (20,22) starting from each of the two end surfaces (12,14) of the grinding wheel are shorter than the surface line length (L) of the grinding outer surface. The lengthwise grooves starting from one end surface are staggered in position in relation to the lengthwise grooves starting from the other end surface in the grinding wheel's peripheral direction.
