The base station has a holder for a standard mobile radio device of a second standard, with electrical interface and converter for received radio signals into first standard. The base station (1) has devices enabling wireless data communications with a computer, especially using the DECT standard. The station has an accommodation region (2) for a standard mobile radio device of a second standard, especially the global system for mobile (GSM) standard, with an electrical data interface that is coupled to a corresponding interface of the mobile radio device, when inserted. The base station has a converter for converting received radio signals in the first standard into a format for the data interface, transferring the converted data to the mobile device via the data interface, and for converting data received from the mobile device via the interface into the first standard, for transmission to the computer.
