<p>The present invention is directed to an improved strap recoiler (46) for rolling shutter assemblies (10) that includes a protective cover (64) that reduces the risk of accidentally releasing the strap (44) and, consequently, the shutter curtain (30). The protective cover (64) is disposed over the locking mechanism (56) to prevent the inadvertent unlocking of the mechanism (56) either by intentionally forcing the mechanism (56) to the unlocked position or accidentally engaging the mechanism (56) with another object. Additionally, the present invention is directed to an improved strap recoiler (46) that facilitates adjustment of the tension in the torsion spring (90) of the take-up roll (88) without the necessity of removing the take-up roll assembly from the strap recoiler housing (48). The recoiler (46) provides access to the shaft (92) so that a torque may be applied to rotate the shaft (92) to increase and/or decrease the tension in the torsion spring (90).</p> |
