PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To synthesize functional carbon material such as carbon nanotubes, a thin diamond film, fine particulate diamond, a fullerene, hollow onion-like carbon or metal-containing hollow onion-like carbon in a high yield and high purity. SOLUTION: A carbon material containing -C≡C- and/or =C= is allowed to react by irradiation with at least one of X-rays, microwaves and ultrasonic waves to form carbon nanotubes, a thin diamond film, fine particulate diamond, a fullerene, hollow onion-like carbon, metal-containing hollow onion-like carbon or at least one of these. |
