PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition for moisturizing which increases the moisturizing function of trehaloses and is useful as a cosmetic or the like by including a pentose and a hexose or the like. SOLUTION: This composition is obtained by mixing (A) one or more than two kinds selected from pentoses and hexoses, suitably one or more than two kinds selected from psicose, galactose and glucose, with (B) one or more than two kinds selected from trehaloses and their derivatives, suitably sulfated trehaloses sodium salt. Further, in order to obtain the objective composition, it is favorable that the component A is added in a proportion of about 0.01-10 fold amount based on the component B to mix them and a hydrocarbon, e.g. Vaseline or the like, an ester, e.g. jojoba oil or the like, a triglyceride, e.g. beef tallow or the like, or the like is additionally added.
