PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound having a low toxicity, and useful as a medicine, especially as a coccidiostat, a nematocide or antibacterial agent used for human or an animal. SOLUTION: This polyether-based compound is a compound of formula I [Me is methyl; R is H, a (substituted)alkyl, a (substituted) alkenyl or the like; X is O, S, NR1 group or the like; R1 is H, a (substituted)alkyl, a (substituted) alkenyl or the like]. The compound of formula I is obtained e.g. as a preferable production method, by using (A) a compound of formula II or its salt (e.g.; a compound of formula III) with (B) a compound of the formula: HX-R (e.g.; benzyl alcohol) in preferably stoichiometric amount to an excess amount of the component B based on the component A, as necessary in the presence of a base such as anhydrous cesium carbonate at preferably 0-100 deg.C for 1 hr to 10 days.
