PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition, which can scarcely cause swelling, rough texture or uneven coloration, by including an aqueous resin, a colorant dispersed in water and powder of a fibrous magnesium silicate-based mineral or the like. SOLUTION: This composition contains (A) an aqueous resin (e.g. acrylic or urethane resin), (B) a colorant dispersed in water, and (C) powder of a fibrous magnesium silicate-based mineral or the like (preferably palygorskite or attapulgite powder). It is preferable that the composition contains the components B and C each at 0.1 to 50 wt.%. It can color a porous member when spread over the surface and cured. As a result, a hydrophobic portion of porous member, difficult to be colored by the conventional aqueous stain, can be colored to give a colored porous member of woody material or the like, essentially free of swelling, rough texture or uneven coloration.
