PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a hydrocarbon liquid product having a lower b.p. than that of a stock oil in a high yield and at a low cost, by cyclic-treating a hydrocarbon of a stock oil by means of a unification process combining the hydrogen treating, separation and hydrocracking. SOLUTION: A hydrocarbon stock oil 1 is introduced into a zone 3, where, under a hydrogen treating reaction condition, it is subjected to denitrification and desulfurization reactions using a catalyst, along with a discharge liquid 32 from a hydrocracking zone 31, to obtain a discharge liquid 4. The discharge liquid 4 is passed through a high-temp. and high-press. stripper 5, to obtain a first vapor stream 7 contg. hydrogen, a hydrocarbon compd. with a low b.p., or the like, and a first liquid stream 6 with the same b.p. range as that of the stock oil. The first liquid stream 6 is passed through a hydrocracking zone 31 contg. a catalyst, thus recovering a discharge liquid 32, which is then fed to the hydrogen treating zone 3. At least a part of the first vapor stream 7 is concentrated in a heat exchanger 10 to obtain a second liquid stream 34 contg. a hydrocarbon with a lower b.p. than that of the stock oil and a second vapor stream 17 contg. hydrogen and hydrogen sulfide. At least a part of the second vapor stream 17 is recycled to the hydrocracking zone 31.
