PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing crosslinked microparticles by which the crosslinked microparticles in a state without being full of pores or hollows having a uniform particle diameter of the order of microns can readily be produced. SOLUTION: This method for producing crosslinked microparticles comprises absorbing a polymerizable monomer and a polymerization initiator on seed particles dispersed in water and then polymerizing the polymerizable monomer. The weight-average molecular weight of the seed particles is 1,000-10,000 and the polymerizable monomer contains >=15 wt.% of a crosslinking monomer having >=2 vinyl groups. The amount of the absorbed polymerizable monomer is 20-100 pts.wt. based on 1 pt.wt. of the seed particles.
