摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for generating a synthetic gas having a high H2/CO molar ratio and a reactor. SOLUTION: A H2/CO ratio of a synthetic gas (mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide) is maintained to about 3. The synthetic gas having the molar ratio is obtained by the steam reforming reaction executed according to the chemical equation of CH4+H2O→3H2+CO. A low grade fuel is burnt in the reactor to obtain heat required for the endothermic steam reforming reaction and the heat of combustion is transferred to the endothermic steam reforming reaction. The generation of undesirable NOx is minimized by using an oxygen selective ion transferring film element 18 to transfer oxygen required for the combustion.
