Active chemical materials, which when mixed form adhesives, sealing compounds &c., are packaged in a single container in three or more layers, at least one of the active materials being divided into two portions, one of the portions being mixed with a thixotropic or gelling agent, or a retardant, to separate the other portion from the second active material. The other portion or the second active material may be mixed with an accelerator. The layers may be arranged vertically, horizontally, or as concentric cylinders within the container, e.g. a tin or bottle. A mixing device may also be incorporated in the package. Alternatively, the container may be a flexible sausage-like skin, the contents being mixed by manipulating the container before extruding the contents. In an example of a sealing or adhesive composition, a polysulphide material, "/sHThiokol L.P.33," (Trade Mark), is packaged with an epoxy resin, "Epikote 828", (Trade Mark). The polysulphide is mixed with gelling agents comprising finely divided silica, and surface coated calcium carbonate, and divided into two portions. An accelerator, tri(dimethylaminomethyl) phenol is added to the outer layer-forming portion. The third layer is formed by the epoxy resin mixed with surface coated calcium carbonate.
