METHOD FOR SELECTIVELY PROGRAM GUIDE PACKETS CORRESPONDING TO GUIDE CHANNELS IN SATELLITE BROADCASTING RECEIVER

PURPOSE: A method for receiving a program guide of a satellite broadcast receiver selectively is provided to reduce a memory capacity by selectively receiving a program information on channels outputted to a present guide screen. CONSTITUTION: A program guide packet is received from a broadcasting satellite(110). A micom organizes a table to designate a location of a program information packet corresponding to each channel in a memory unit(120). A channel number displayed on a present guide is detected and a location of a program information packet is read from a series number table(130). A program information packet corresponding to channels adjacent to a present receiving channel is received and saved in the memory unit(140). The micom determines whether a program information on a newly displayed channel is needed when a guide screen is scrolled up and down(150). A guide screen is renewed with using a program information saved in the memory unit in case a guide screen is not moved(160).
