A METHOD FOR PREPARING CYCLOHEXANEDIMETHANOL

PURPOSE: A method for preparing cyclohexane dimethanol(CHDM) is provided to improve heat-resistant, weather-resistant abilities, transparency and formability of resin by comprising CHDM, especially 1,4-CHDM as a diol component useful for reforming polyethylene terephthalate. CONSTITUTION: CHDM having the following formula 1 is prepared by hydrogenating cyclohexane dicarboxylate dialkyl ester of formula 2 (wherein R is C1-C4 alkyl group) by means of fixed phase continuous reaction under the molding catalyst containing copper component at 200-280 deg.C. and 185-300kg/cm2 of hydrogen pressure and under the flow rate of provided hydrogen gas of 1-40cm/sec; by continuously providing hydrogen, cyclohexane dicarboxylate dialkyl ester and aliphatic alcohol having C1-C4 from upper part of the reactor charged with the catalyst; by hydrogenating it under vapor-liquid mixed phase condition to remove excess hydrogen, reaction product and aliphatic alcohol having C1-C4.
