PURPOSE: An object copying method is provided to optionally designate a copying area by a user and automatically convert a size of an object suitable to the copying area. CONSTITUTION: When a user designates an object to be copied, a height and an area of the object are calculated(100). The object having information with respect to the height and an area of the object is copied on a clip board(110). The user designates a designating area of a copying area by a mouse(120). When the designating area is determined, a height(h'=y3=y1) and an area(w'=x2-x1) of the designating area are calculated(130). An enlarge rate(h'/h) or a reduction rate(w'/w) is calculated according to the height and area changes calculated in steps 100 and 120(140). The object which is copied on the clip board in step 110 is converted according to the enlarge rate(h'/h) or the reduction rate(w'/w) in step 140(150). The object converted in step 150 is copied to the area designated in step 120(160).
