PURPOSE: Transfer system of TCP application information to an ATM network and its method are provided to improve a data transfer rate by rapidly connecting TCP application information to an ATM network by omitting a TCP/IP application layer and an address identification layer when the TCP application is connected to the ATM network. CONSTITUTION: A TCP application(200) layer adopts a communication protocol such as a file transfer protocol. A winsock 2(210) layer allows a communication environment set-up with an ATM communication network. A hierarchical winsock 2 service provider(220) layer includes a database storing an ATM address to an IP address and translates the IP address to the ATM address to form a direct channel to the other party terminal. As the hierarchical winsock 2 service provider(220) layer directly connects the data of the TCP application(200) layer to the ATM network, the data transfer rate is highly improved. If the hierarchical winsock 2 service provider(220) layer has not been connected to the other party terminal yet, since it does not have an ATM address corresponding to the IP address of the other party terminal in its database, it may not form a channel with the other party terminal. In this case, it should pass a TCP/IP provider(230) layer. The TCP/IP provider(230) layer is an interface layer between the hierarchical winsock 2 service provider(220) layer and the TCP/IP(230) layer. In a TCP/IP(240) layer adopts a TCP/IP protocol and re-transmits an error frame by flow control using a window algorithm. A LANE/IOPA(250) layer forms a channel by identifying an address of the other party terminal to which a data is to be transmitted. That is, the LANE/IOPA(250) layer checks an ATM address to the IP address of the other party terminal from an address server having ATM address information of the IP address and establishes a channel based on the address. The channel-set ATM address is stored in the database of the hierarchical windsock 2 service provider(220) layer. An ATM interface unit(260) provides an interface with respect to the ATM network and includes a native ATM service(261) layer for providing a software interface and a network interface driver(NIC)(262) for providing a hardware interface so as to allow an ATM connection of the TCP application.
