PURPOSE: A digital television receiver capable of increasing a frame compression rate and reducing a lowering of image equality when storing data in a frame memory after decoding is provided. CONSTITUTION: In a digital television receiver, an input signal processor decodes a DCT coefficient and a moving vector of an input bit stream, and inversely scans and quantizes the decoded DCT coefficient. An IDCT section(103) performs an IDCT conversion for the DCT coefficient from the input signal processor. A storage section(106) stores an input bit stream or a motion compensation frames. A motion compensator(104) performs a motion compensation for the frames stored in the storage section(106) according to the decoded motion vector and the IDCT frame from the input signal processor. A frame encoder and decoder compresses and stores the motion compensated data in storage section(106), reads and expands the stored data. A controller controls operations of IDCT section(103) and frame encoder and decoder according to a compression mode. |
