PURPOSE: A method for controlling a transient state in a special reproduction of a VCR is provided to control a screen flickering or a noise bar generated in an acceleration and a deceleration moment by determining an acceleration and a deceleration section through a speed alteration during an acceleration or a deceleration. CONSTITUTION: A normal path in a high speed running and a deceleration path in a deceleration are different each other in case a reproduction key is inputted in a high speed running. A drum and a capstan should change a speed suitable for a reproduction mode. A point of time of a capstan speed change and a speed profile of a speed change process determine a screen flickering and a noise bar.
