PURPOSE: An apparatus for repeating sound service information having a bidirectional phaser and a method for controlling the same are provided to upgrade and repeat a sound service information index by utilizing a bidirectional phaser. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for repeating sound service information having a bidirectional phaser comprises a duplexer(111), a receiver(113), a decompressor(127), a sound processor(129), a memory(117), a keypad(119), a controller(115), and a transmitter(133). The decompressor decompresses compressed sound service information by using a MPEG 3. A method for controlling the repeating device comprises the steps of: storing a sound service information index; receiving an index mode key; converting the sound service information index to an index mode; displaying the sound service information index; investigating an input state of a selected key; transmitting an index data transmission request signal; receiving sound service information; decompressing the sound service information; and transmitting the decompressed sound service information.
