PURPOSE: An abbreviated dial registering method in a facsimile device having an automatic answering function is provided to record a name as a voice while registering an abbreviated dial, and to reproduce the recorded name as the voice. Therefore, it is possible to easily confirm an abbreviated dial number. CONSTITUTION: A CPU(50) controls/processes a facsimile system according to a determined program. The CPU(50) controls to register a name as a voice while registering an abbreviated dial, and controls to reproduce the registered name as the voice. A memory(52) stores program data, protocol data and character data, and stores an incoming message and voice data. An OPE(Operating Pannel Equipment)(54) equips a response mode selecting key, various function keys, an abbreviated dial registering key, an abbreviated dial correcting key, a voice name registering key, a character name registering key and an abbreviated number addition registering key. The OPE(54) inputs generated key data in the CPU(50), and displays display data of the CPU(50). A scanner(56) reads image data to perform a photoelectric conversion, and outputs the data as binarization data. A modem(60) receives control of the CPU(50), and performs an analog modulation output for output data of the CPU(50). The modem(60) performs a demodulation output for analog receiving image data, and decodes received DTMF(Dual Tone Multi Frequency) signal, then performs a digital conversion for the DTMF signal for outputting. An LIU(62) constructs a communication loop of a telephone line, and interfaces a modem signal with a telephone line signal. A printer(58) prints the image data. An answering machine(64) synthesizes name data as a voice signal, and outputs the voice signal through a speaker(68) or the LIU(62), or converts the voice signal into digital data to store the digital data in the memory(52).
