PURPOSE: 13-diacetyl-taxchinin, which is useful as a synthetic ingredient or an intermediate of taxene anticancer materials, is prepared and isolated. CONSTITUTION: 8 Kg of Taxus sp. plant cell is extracted at room temperature for 30 minutes, and concentrated at 35°C, 30 mmHg, followed by addition of 12 l dichloromethane for 15 minutes. Obtained 10 g of product is dissolved in 56 ml of dichloromethane, followed by addition of 5 g active clay at 40°C for 20 minutes, and filtrated. The solution is washed with 285 ml of dichloromethane, and concentrated at 35°C, 20 mm Hg. The concentrated solution is precipitated in 1,000 ml of hexane, and the filtrate is concentrated by rotary evaporator, followed by separation in silica gel column to give the 13-diacetyl-taxchinin(formula 1).
