An object to be protected is covered with a mixture comprising a non-linear powdered metal oxide containing zinc and at least one polymer. The covering is a sleeve, paint, or a polymerizable film, or in the case of an antenna radome the whole object can be made from the mixture. The polymer is thermoplastic, thermosetting or a fluid or semi-solid elastomer.
