The invention relates to a process for producing crude copper pyrometallurgically in a suspension reactor directly from sulphidic concentrates thereof. According to the process, the copper sulphide concentrate is conducted in the suspension reactor, into which cooled and finely crushed copper matte is also conducted for the purpose of binding the heat which is released from the concentrate.
