The universal joint (1) has a crosspiece (2) whose four overlapping spigots (7,8,11,12) lie pairwise over two roller bearings. The cross-piece is strengthened in the tension and pressure directions by spigot pairs (6) which swing about a first fixable connection construction (3). A second spigot pair (10) forms a pronged fork (4) and is movable in the direction of the first spigot pair.
