An image signal conversion equipment (ICp1) which converts an interlacing scanning component video signal (Scv) to be input to a display unit that displays a progressive scanning image signal (Scv, p) and which displays as an image the converted signal on the display unit, wherein an up-converter (11) converts an interlacing scanning component video signal (Scv) into a progressive scanning form, and scanning form discriminators (4, 14, 15) discriminate as to whether component video signals (Scv1, Scv2) are in an interlacing scanning form or in a progressive scanning form based on a luminance signal (Y) contained in the component video signals (Scv1, Scv2). An output destination selector (3B, 15A) selects where to output the component video signals (Scv1, Scv2) based on the discrimination result by the discriminator (15). The signals (Scv1, Scv2) are output to the up-converter (11) if the discriminator (15) discriminates the signals to be in an interlacing scanning form. |
