The invention consists of a device and a method for control of a work surface with an adjustable one-directional vertical or tilted lifting column that consists of at least three elements (1 - 3) that can slide within each other provided with sliding surfaces (23) for mutual guidance. Regulation of the column in the direction of increased length occurs by active influence by means of an operating mechanism (7) on a wire or equivalent whose two ends are attached at ends of the component elements, whereby the wire runs over a pulley (12). Regulation in the direction of decreased length of the column occurs by the influence of gravity. The column can also be provided with a means of conversion for the management of control signals from a pointing device based on an image on a computer monitor at the workplace, where electrical signals from an interface means are converted to electrical signals adapted to the operating mechanism (7), whereby a change in the length of the column is achieved. In addition, a predetermined adjustment of the column can be achieved automatically after start-up of the computer at the workplace. |
