The personal computer ,PC,(150) is connected to the scanner (152) and sets the control variables for the scanner hardware. These are the sampling rate,vertical and horizontal resolutions such that they approximate to the average data transmission rate. Independent claims are included for control procedure for scanner and computer program in computer readable medium to control scanner.
