A method and computer program for management of fragment ion spectra of a progenitor ion for successive fragmentation generations, can be used to cause a mass spectrometer to perform a measurement of a spectrum, as well as for memory management and the recalling of previously measured fragment ion spectra of a progenitor ion. A "tree view", (well-known from the management of memory files in directories and subdirectories) is applied for displaying the spectra on a VDU and for memory management of descending fragment ion spectra. All necessary steps for data acquisition and spectrum management can be made using a mouse, without using the keyboard. Measurements can be set up by clicking on peaks in a spectrum depicted on the VDU. |
