PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adapter for large diameter core of a friction winding shaft capable of dispensing with a winding collar exchanging work when the inside diameter of the core is changed, easily attaching/detaching the large diameter core, easy in handling, and relatively simple in structure. SOLUTION: An adapter 1 for large diameter core to attach a large diameter core C larger in inside diameter than a standard core to be adapted to a winding collar 2 to a friction winding shaft 4 in which the winding collar 2 has a core locking mechanism 3, is provided with a pair of core chucks capable of holding an end part of the large diameter core C, and a pair of center cylinders 6 which are separately and concentrically pierced through a pair of core chucks 5, lock the core chucks 5 to a specified position, and have the inside diameter adaptable to the winding collar 2.
