PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cosmetic having an excellent moisture retaining effect, improved compatibility with skin, no sticky feeling, providing a smooth feeling after application, having an excellent feeling in use by using both a polyaspartate and a specific component. SOLUTION: This cosmetic comprises (A) a phospholipid (e.g. a hydrogenated phospholipid, or the like), (B) a polyaspartate (a polymer of L-aspartic acid, D-aspartic acid or heir mixture, or the like), (C) a liquid oil (e.g. a fatty acid such as oleic acid a hydrocarbon such as a liquid paraffin, an alcohol such as hexadecyl alcohol), (D) a water-soluble moisture retaining agent (a substance except the polyaspartate of the component B, for example, a polyol such as glycerol or an amino acid such as glycine) in the ratio of preferably 0.01-5 wt.% of the component A, 0.1-10 wt.% of the component B, 0.05-50 wt.% of the component C and 0.1-50 wt.% of the component D, and preferably further (E) cholesterol and/or phytosterol.
