PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an additive for a cold rolling mill lubricant which enables a steel material having good resistances to edge carbon, oil stain, and smudge, esp. a mill clean material, to be produced and a cold rolling mill lubricant contg. the same. SOLUTION: The additive comprises an oil-soluble organometallic compd. contg. at least one kind of metal selected from among Al, Zn, Mo, As, Se, Sn, Sb, Te, Pb, and Bi in the molecule. The lubricant is prepd. by adding the additive in an amt. of 0.1-10 wt.% (in terms of metal, based on the base oil) to a base oil comprising at least one kind of oil selected from among material oils, animal and vegetable oils, and synthetic oils.
