PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obviate the inflow of the current generated by electromagnetic induction accompanying the electromagnetic waves by an electric discharge into a magnetic head element by pressing a nozzle to a ball bump and setting the time for forming the ball formed at a wire end at the time exclusive of the time when the nozzle comes into contact with the ball bump. SOLUTION: A holding drive member 51 is driven to bring the front end of the nozzle 53 into contact with the ball bump in a protective resin coating application stage. Next, the prescribed amount. of a photosetting resin is extruded and is applied to the ball bump so as to cover its surface and thereafter, the front end of the nozzle 53 is detached from the ball bump. The time when the nozzle is in contact with the ball bump and the time when the electric discharge is generated between the front end 42a of the wire 42 and a discharge electrode 43 in a ball bonding stage are set at the different time (timing). The nozzle 53 and the ball bump are held in a detached state at the time when the electromagnetic waves are generated by the electric discharge in the ball bonding stage.
