PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a solid electrolytic capacitor which can be reduced in equivalent series resistance, and a method for manufacturing the capacitor. SOLUTION: In a solid electrolytic capacitor, an etched aluminum foil which is formed with an aqueous solution containing 0.005-3% ammonium dihydrogen phosphate is used as cathode foil, and an etched aluminum foil coated with a dielectric film formed by transforming the surface of the aluminum foil by the conventional method is used as an anode foil. The capacitor element of the capacitor is formed by winding the anode foil and cathode foil with a separator in between, and the element is impregnated with an EDT monomer. Then the element is further impregnated with a butanol solution containing 40-60% ferric para-toluensulfonate and heated to 20-180 deg.C for more than 30 minutes. Thereafter, the surface of the capacitor element is coated with resin and the capacitor is subjected to aging.
